The European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) identifies and rewards EU regions and cities which show an outstanding and innovative entrepreneurial policy strategy, irrespective of their size, wealth and competences. Regions and cities with the most forward-thinking and promising vision plan are granted the label “European Entrepreneurial Region” (EER) for a specific year.
Regions includes communities, autonomous communities, departments, Länder, provinces, counties, metropolitan areas, large cities, as well as cross-border territories with legal personality such as EGTCs and Euroregions. To be eligible, the applicant must have the necessary political competence to implement a comprehensive policy strategy aimed at SMEs and the industry. The call is open to territories that are already successful and those committed to implementing necessary changes. Cross-border regions are particularly encouraged to submit applications.
The theme of the EER 2024 campaign is Cities and regions on a path to sustainable, resilient and digital
growth, stressing the role of local and regional actors in fostering sustainable, resilient and digital forms of
entrepreneurship.
The deadline to submit applications is set at 29 March 2023.
